You’re Doing Better Than You Think — Here’s Why That Matters More Than You Realize

Real growth isn’t just about crushing goals — it’s about keeping promises to yourself. In this soul-stirring reflection, Cody shares how his role at TRIS has evolved from strategy to soul, unlocking a deeper level of client impact. If you’ve ever felt burnt out, unseen, or stuck behind the highlight reel, this post is a powerful reminder: you’re not alone, you’re doing better than you think, and real change starts with the next small step.

Over thelast few weeks, my role inside of TRIS has shifted.

Not just alittle.

It’s changed in a soul-level kind of way.

& it's attracting soul aligned clients.

I've stepped deeper into the entire flow of our clients' success — not just what they're doing in business... but who they're becoming in the process.

And let me tell you something real:

This week alone, I’ve done about 12 one-on-one sessions with our clients.

And it’s become crystal clear to me that no matter where someone is on their journey —in a high, a low, scaling fast, or feeling stuck in the mud — we all need twothings:

Accountability.

And someone to just say...

"Hey…you’re doing a good job."

That might sound simple.

But it’s not.

See, most people in this industry are carrying a secret.

They look shiny on the outside.

Hustling.

Grinding.

10X-ing.

But inside?

They’re tired. Burnt. Numb.

And worse…they're beating themselves up every single day.

And yes —I’m guilty of that too.

I was talking with my coach Jen the other night.

And she helped me see something I’ve been blind to:

I give so much to others.

I pour into clients.

I support friends.

I encourage the people around me.

But I don’t pour into me.

And tha thit me.

Hard.

Because this week, I found myself coaching clients through that exact same battle.

Encouraging them to show up for themselves.

Not just for their businesses, or their families, or their goals — but for the human inthe mirror.

And something Sharran told me came flooding back:

"We lose confidence when we break promises to ourselves."

Man… that line hit different this time.

So this week, I didn’t just coach our clients.

I walked with them — helping them make tiny, 1% promises to themselves they could actually keep.

Not "add a zero to your goals" kind of stuff.

Not "crush it, bro" energy.

But real, human commitments.

Things like: — Drink 3 liters of water a day

— Take a 30-minute walk

— Journal 5 minutes before bed

— Book 5 coffee meetings with people you have sold homes to

Because here’s the truth nobody talks about in real estate (or entrepreneurship ingeneral):

We’ve all been sold the lie that success is about setting bigger goals.

But in reality?

Confidence is built by keeping small promises to yourself.

You don't need more "Big Swing Energy."

You need follow-through energy.

This industry doesn’t need more gurus yelling "10X it!"

It needs more humans who walk beside you and whisper,

"Hey...I see you. I’m proud of you. Let’s take the next step together."

Another thing I’m learning?

We need rewards.

We hit milestones, smash goals, give everything to everyone…

And then tell ourselves:

"You don’t deserve the thing. You didn’t do enough."

I’ve done it too.

Last year,I hit my income goal.

Told myself I’d buy a Rolex.

Did I? No.

Why?

Because deep down, I didn’t feel like I deserved it. (Also… let’s be honest, buying a Rolex in Colombia is basically a death wish)

But I did do something for me this week.

I booked atrip to Wrestlemania — a dream my 12-year-old self would’ve flipped over.

And for once, I didn’t overthink it.

I just said: "You earned this. Go enjoy it."

Because I’m realizing something powerful:

The way we feel about ourselves... shapes the way we talk to ourselves.

And that affects the results we allow ourselves to attract.

Here’s the lesson I keep coming back to:

Everyone needs a coach.

Not just for strategy.

But for soul. For accountability. For perspective.

For someoneto help you keep the promises you already know you need to keep.

We’re in this together.

This business can feel lonely as hell.

But you’re not alone.

And I’m so proud of what Vikram Deol and I are building w/ TRIS.

And I am soproud of our Tribe Leaders Molly Mc Inerney Mekus Daniel R Rude & Jan-Michael McClintic

And I am so proud of our operations and sales team Erik Schulte Aldo Feoli Ale Diaz Luisa Fernanda Warner Obando Sofia Della Maggiore

& I am so proud of our TRIS clients for showing up for themselves and fortheir families.

Because TRIS is a place where real estate pros don’t have to fake it.

Where "how are you?" doesn’t get answered with metrics.

Where you can show up… raw, real, a little beat-up — and still be celebrated.

A safe space in an industry full of peacocking, flex culture, and "my brand is bigger than yours" nonsense.

Because here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud:

Most of the loudest people in this industry are quietly hurting.

They’re not better than you.

They’re just better at pretending.

But pretending doesn’t build peace.

And it sure as hell doesn’t build a life.

Because in the end, it’s hard to fix the bank account if you don’t first fix the heart.

And the loudest limits you face?

They’re not out in the market…

They’re between your ears.

So today — whether you’re crushing it or crawling through it — just know…

You’re doing a good job.

You’re not alone.

And I’m proud of you.

Let’s keep going. One micro-commitment at a time.
